I Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how the Prayerful Rosary application (“the app,” “we,” “us”) handles information. Prayerful Rosary is a meditative rosary-prayer companion for iPhone and iPad, published by Prayerful Rosary and distributed through the Apple App Store.
This policy applies to the app itself. It does not cover the Apple App Store or any third-party website you may reach by tapping a link inside the app — those services are governed by their own privacy policies.
II Information We Do Not Collect
Prayerful Rosary does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal information. We have deliberately built the app without the machinery that would make collection possible. Specifically, we do not gather:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials — the app has no sign-in.
- Usage analytics, crash telemetry, or behavioral data.
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any cross-app or cross-site tracking data.
- Location, contacts, calendars, photos, microphone input, or health data.
- Any data through third-party advertising or analytics SDKs — the app uses none.
Because the app makes no network requests of its own, there is no server for your information to travel to. Nothing about your prayers is ever uploaded to us.
III Information Stored on Your Device
To remember your place and your practice, the app saves certain information locally, in its own private storage on your device. This data is created by you, kept for you, and never leaves the device by way of the app. It includes:
- Prayer intentions — the petitions you write to carry into a rosary.
- Reflections — any thoughts or graces you record after a prayer session.
- Streak and progress history — your consecutive days of prayer and the point at which you last paused, so you can resume where you left off.
- Settings and preferences — your chosen theme, font size, haptics, audio, and similar options.
- Audio you add — any prayer audio files you place into the app for guided playback.
This information is held in your device’s standard app storage. It may be included in your encrypted device backup (for example iCloud Backup or a computer backup) if you have those turned on in iOS — that backup is managed entirely by Apple under your own settings, not by us. The app itself does not use iCloud sync or any cloud database.
You are always in control. You can edit or delete intentions and reflections within the app, and deleting the app removes all of its locally stored data from your device.
IV Notifications
The app can show optional local notifications — such as a daily prayer reminder or one of the app’s daily Catholic motivations. These are scheduled and generated entirely on your device; no notification content is sent through us or any outside service.
Notifications appear only if you grant permission when iOS asks. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Notifications → Prayerful Rosary, or within the app’s own settings.
V Sharing & External Links
A few features in the app touch the world beyond it, and they only ever do so at your initiative:
- The share sheet. If you choose to share a quote, intention, or reflection card, the app hands it to Apple’s standard iOS share sheet so you can send it where you like. We do not see, store, or receive whatever you share.
- External links. Links to our social pages (such as YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook) and to the sources credited for certain prayers and reflections open in your browser or the relevant app. Once you leave Prayerful Rosary, the privacy policy of that destination applies.
VI The App Store & Apple
Prayerful Rosary is downloaded and updated through the Apple App Store. When you download an app, make a purchase, or interact with the App Store, Apple may collect information under Apple’s Privacy Policy. That activity is between you and Apple; we do not receive personal information about you from it.
VII Children’s Privacy
Prayerful Rosary is suitable for people of all ages and is safe for children to use. Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. We do not knowingly gather data from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region), and there is no mechanism in the app by which such data could be collected.
VIII Security
The most protective thing an app can do with your data is never to move it. Because your information stays on your device, it is shielded by iOS app sandboxing and your device’s built-in encryption and passcode protections. There is no central database of users to breach, because there is no central database at all.
IX Your Rights
Privacy laws such as Canada’s PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR, and California’s CCPA give people rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a company holds about them. We honor the spirit of these laws by the simplest possible means: we hold no personal information about you to access, correct, sell, or delete.
You retain full control of the data stored on your own device — you can view and change it in the app, and remove all of it by deleting the app. If you have any question about your rights, you are welcome to contact us.
X Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy — for example, because the app gains a new feature — we will revise the “Effective” date at the top of this page and post the new version here. If a change is significant, we will make a reasonable effort to note it within the app. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
